The Real 'Nazi' Convo Revealed!
The current issue of the Chattanooga Pulse has a feature in the Between the Bridges section that purports to dispute our "Overheard at City Hall" report on August 14 titled 'Shameful.'
In it, WME reported that in a recent interview Littlefield compared Stroud and the Design Studio to Nazi's. Today, The Pulse printed the actual interview, which is: If you let a single individual, or even a small group of people, micromanage a city over a long period of time it begins to look like Berlin under the Nazis."
So, we've got 'single person' (Stroud) or a 'small group' (Design Studio) and 'Nazis.' Please, tell me how that isn't a comparison?
Aaron, thank you for releasing the transcript, because it proved my point to be absolutely true. My O@CH report said that it was probably a flippant remark and that he regretted it. But it was a really stupid thing to say. You're just upset that I scooped you. You shoulda run the quote the first time, Ace.
And, as I mentioned to you in the email conversation we had off-blog, I did check my source and backed it up with another. You weren't my source. I was told the story by a reliable source, and I made a call to verify it. The feature is called "Overheard at City Hall" for a reason.
The Chattanooga Pulse may be a newspaper and subject to the standards thereof (although, maybe not--you misquoted the Chattanooga Times [it was 10,000 suns] and you misspelled 'tried'). However, this is a blog. I don't have to write to your standards. Nevertheless, the story stands, because it was accurate. Thanks to you, I now have a third source.
BTW--excellent headline. 'Worst Fact-Checking Ever.' Nice! It's wrong, but still, it's funny, and that counts for something.
p.s. WME love the Pulse. Chattanooga has needed a second print news source for years. We think it produces the best reportage in Chattanooga--the bravest anyway.
